Stealth has never been one of Gustavain's strong suits, but subterfuge has, even before he was one of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. It's not that he's a particularly good liar so much as he's a good storyteller and years of judging what an audience wants to hear has given him an uncanny ability to present himself however the viewer wants to see him, when he chooses to.

Theoretically, the nations of the world and it's leaders hold no sway over any of the Scions, but frankly, he feels like he owes Nanamo at least one at this point, probably more, and so when she asks for him personally on a "stealth" mission, well, he's hardly one to refuse. Particularly since he has the perfect "disguise"-- everyone has heard of him at this point of course and Gustavain looks as he always does, but everyone is looking for Gustavain the Bard, not Gustavain the healer, and he's more than happy to use that to his advantage.

So he's introduced to Rael slightly behind Nanamo and a much recovered Raubahn, as a friend who is doing her a service (let him wonder how a simple healer has become friends with a monarch. Sometimes letting people fill in the details only makes things seem more realistic) by going to retrieve an item of importance to her. His expertise is needed to identify it and make sure it's legitimate, but the traveling itself is dangerous and while she doesn't present Gustavain as not being capable of protecting himself, the implication is that there might be some additional trouble retrieving the item.

All of this is true. The part that is less so is that both Nanamo and Gustavain know full well why he's required to retrieve the item and it's better to not let the world know she's using someone with the Echo in this manner.

As far as first impressions go, Gustavain gives off an impressive one. He's dressed in Ishgardian style at the moment, long robes and glittering adornments, his hair worn longer than normal and unbound. He knows he looks both a little imposing, thanks to the ornateness of the robes and his height, and also a bit soft around the edges with the choice of white and robes and his hair down. He seems pleasant enough towards Rael when they're introduced, though, offering a formal bow but a genuine smile.
