There is an argument somewhere that for all this is uncomfortable for Phillip, it might be good for him, to take down the walls he's so stubbornly built. But a lot of that depends on how Gustavain reacts afterwards- it's only good if he learns he's still safe without the walls, after all.
The third finger is a bit much too fast, and there's a sharp little noise that accompanies it, but physical pain is something he can deal with much better than whatever the hells else is happening right now. So he says "I'm ready," even though that's not entirely physically true, though he is definitely ready to stop feeling so openly vulnerable.
